We don’t just build communities; we support the heroes who live in them.
At Santiago Communities, we believe in uplifting our residents and showing up when it matters most, especially for those who have served our country. On Thursday, July 3rd, 2025, we were proud to support a meaningful act of service: gifting a 2013 ruby red Ford Edge to one of our very own, Mr. Green, a U.S. Army Veteran and resident of Santiago Palm Vista in Hemet.
Mr. Green needed reliable transportation to attend medical appointments and handle essential daily tasks. When we learned of his situation, our team at Santiago Communities partnered with AVAG (American Veterans Assistance Group) to help make a difference.
Thanks to the dedication of Chaplain Doreen and the generosity of AVAG Founder Richard Simonian, a vehicle was secured and presented to Mr. Green during a heartfelt gathering in Orange, CA. The event was attended by members of the AVAG team, including President Ramon Rodriguez, board members, chapter commanders, and volunteers, all coming together to honor and support a fellow veteran.

In addition to the car, one full year of AAA service was provided, and assistance was given to help complete the vehicle registration. The only remaining step for Mr. Green is a routine smog check—and then he’ll be on the road with peace of mind.
“Being part of Santiago Communities means being part of something bigger,” said Chaplain Doreen. “Through the partnership with AVAG, we get to honor veterans like Mr. Green; not just with words, but with real, lasting support.”
At Santiago Communities, we’re honored to serve veterans and grateful for the opportunity to give back to one of our own. With the help of AVAG and our shared commitment to supporting those who’ve served, this act of kindness is a reminder of what’s possible when community comes first.
