Our partner, Affordable Community Living (ACL) is honored to celebrate the completion of the first CalHome Owner Occupied Rehabilitation Program, known as OOR1.
Behind this program are real families who were living with unsafe floors, aging roofs, failing systems, and the stress that comes with a home they can no longer manage on their own.
OOR1 helped change that for many people.
ACL received a $5,000,000 grant from the State of California to provide home repair and home replacement grants to residents who needed a safe place to call home again.
The contract was signed on February 2, 2021, and the program is now fully complete.

The CalHome Program offers funding to nonprofit organizations and local public agencies so they can support first time homebuyers and help with home repairs. It also backs counseling and technical guidance programs that assist low-income and very low-income families in becoming homeowners or staying in their homes.
By the end of OOR1, a total of 43 families received the support they needed.
This included 7 homes that were rehabilitated and 36 homes that were fully replaced with new manufactured homes, thanks to the partnership with Santiago Communities.

ACL used $4,990,034 of the awarded funds, leaving $9,966 remaining which was returned.
For each family, the result was more than a repaired structure. It was peace of mind. It was relief. It was the comfort of knowing their home is safe, stable, and ready for the future.
ACL and Santiago Communities are grateful for the trust that these families placed in us throughout the entire process.
